Dairy yield recording is the basis of the Murciano-Granada Breed breeding program. It is the basis on which the genetic evaluations of each individual and their ancestry are based, evaluations that make up the selection schemes.
It works through detailed and individualized information, which well managed will help the farmer to make decisions about these animals, achieving a higher degree of productivity, better quality of milk and consequently greater profitability for the farm and future viability.
The responsibility for the organization and execution of the official records of milk yield lies on the corresponding Autonomous Official Dairy Control Centers, as established in RD 368/2005, which regulates the official control of milk performance for genetic evaluation in the bovine, ovine and caprine species. The methods and procedures used, as well as the measuring devices, must be authorized by the ICAR (International Committee for Animal Recording) and be within the current legislative framework, specifically, the performance control tests for all traits will respect what is established in part 1 and 2 of Annex III of Regulation (EU) 2016/1012.
