Our specialized staff work hand in hand with farmers as they integrate sustainable practices that have a positive impact on society, the economy and the environment. The smart management and modernization of their farms result in increased resilience and productivity, at the same time that it translates into a greater reconciliation between work and personal life. In addition, with the implementation of the carbon footprint estimation at the farm level, by quantifying both emissions and captures, supports adequate decision-making towards reducing the level of CO2 emissions.

One of the most important foundations on which decision-making is based in any company is the efficient use of resources. For livestock farming projects, improving animal management is a key part of increasing yields. A correct nutrient supply in relation to the age and physiological state of the animal reduces invisible losses and maximizes milk production. At Caprigran we train and advise farmers in the optimal management of resources.
At Caprigran we work with the ‘Star-Inteka’ program that consists of planning 4-5 kidding groups per year (average interval of 72 to 92 days) where the animals that, based on yield or days in milk, are selected in each of them for insemination or natural mating. By doing this we minimize economic losses due to keeping unproductive animals, a more sustained milk production throughout the year and working with smaller farrowing pens that allow more efficient management and facilitates the selection of young stock for replacement.
Being aware of the importance of ensuring profitability of our flocks, at Caprigran we have been working for years to collect the necessary technical-economic data, to make an adequate balance and identify the main items of costs and income so that decision-making on the financial management is optimized.
On September 25th, 2015, world leaders adopted a set of global goals to eradicate poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all as part of a new sustainable development agenda. As an organization dealing with the use of resources and providing food to the society, we are aware of the need to achieve these objectives and have put measures in place to address each of them. Our Model integrates the pursue to end poverty and zero hunger through exporting our “know-how” to the most disadvantaged societies in the world. This is possible because of the Alliances developed with third organizations and administrations to achieve these objectives.
Gender Equality, economic growth and the reduction of inequalities are other objectives in which we work through the modernization and training of our farmers.
In addition, we work on Climate Action by reducing greenhouse gases emissions. The correct handling of animals, use of resources and the inclusion in the Carbon Footprint tool have allowed us to combine profitability with social and environmental sustainability.
